Yvonne Jenkins

BRANCH Housing Co-Operative

My name is Yvonne Jenkins, a member of BRANCH housing co-operative since 1997 and living in a BRANCH dwelling since the year 2000.

Prior to 2000, with a small group of Bellingen residents, BRANCH made several grant applications through the Office of Public Housing to the Commonwealth State Housing Authority for designated Co-operative funding to build and purchase 9 dwellings in the Bellingen Shire.
After many consultations with the Advisory body to Resource for Co-operative Housing (ARCH) and NSW State bodies of every variety the funding came through.

Over the years I have served on the ARCH and the CENSW boards and was involved in many initiatives towards establishing Community Housing NSW as it took shape to take over responsibilities from the Public Housing Authority during the 1990’s and early 2000’s

My role now in the BRANCH housing co-operative is Membership officer, that role oversees policies review and renewal, applications for housing and general wellbeing of cooperative processes that serve members and the co-operative.

More widely, my interest in the commonwealth and state housing sector is that it seeks and promotes and practices excellent environmental design, social inclusivity, and co-operative structure in housing management.
